Summary
The hottest new game for the Nintendo Wii is none other than a new generation of Mario. Super Mario Galaxy follows suit with the last few Mario games, it is nearly 100 percent 3-D. The game's forerunners are Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. Like many of the other Mario games, Mario's quest for Super Mario Galaxy is to rescue Princess Peach from none other than long time adversary, Bowser. In order for Mario to successfully complete his quest he must travel through galaxies and around planetoids to reach and battle Bowser. Players will experience effects in this game that are new to all. Some of the changes will include new ways for Mario to power-up and also new gravitational effects.
Super Mario Galaxy has been receiving outstanding reviews and unequivocally capturing the attention of audiences since it was first previewed in 2006.

Gameplay
Super Mario Galaxy leads us to outer space. This is where the greatest part of the game will take place. In the duration of Mario's quest he must travel along a colossal chain of planetoids and other space junk. A few places consist of larger areas that may be explored like the Honeyhive Galaxy and the Beach Bowl Galaxy. Considering past experience with Mario, his capabilities have since improved. He can now jump from one planet to the next.

Throughout his quest, Mario will encounter many different planets and planetoids, each with their own gravitational force. This allows Mario to walk sideways or even upside down. Mario has the capabilities to transform into Fire Mario, Ice Mario, Boo Mario, Spring Mario, Flying Mario, and Rainbow Mario. Like its predecessors, this game is set up so that Mario is required to collect stars. The stars are given when a task is completed or an enemy is beaten.

The central area in Super Mario Galaxy is the Comet Observatory. The Observatory is divided into six different sections or worlds. The six worlds are the Terrace, Fountain, Kitchen, Bedroom, Engine Room, and Garden. There are a grand total of 42 galaxies and each one of these contains between 1 and 7 stars. As the player collects more and more stars, more are unveiled in each galaxy.

In the end 120 stars became available and when Mario is successful in collecting them all, then Luigi's character is unlocked and is playable. Then the entire game can be replayed with Luigi and an extra star is added for a grand total of 121 stars.
Mario's health is measured in the same way as the past two 3-D Mario games. The power meter is used to keep track of Mario's health. When his health meter is down he can boost it back up by collecting coins, but if the meter falls too quickly and Mario is unable to replenish it before it reaches zero, Mario looses a life. Additionally the air meter for Mario is separate from the health meter, but when his air meter reaches zero his health begins to diminish.
